Yaz/Yasmin

Yaz and Yasmin are birth control pills manufactured by Bayer Healthcare that differ slightly in dose; these drugs contain the same form of estrogen, ethinyl estradiol, but Yaz and Yasmin also contain a new progestin called drospirenone, which can cause an increase in potassium levels in your blood. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned that increased levels of potassium in your blood can be dangerous. In the four-year period of 2004-2008, over 50 deaths were reported to the FDA.
